BEACHES

ONE FOR EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR

Antigua is said to have 365 beaches, one for every day of the year. Enjoy this sampling of the beautiful white sand beaches of Antigua.

To try and help you plan your time in Antigua, whether you are on a cruise ship and have one day to chose the perfect beach, or here for some time and want to spend time on many different beaches, we have listed which beaches are good for snorkelling, equipment hire, water sports, whether there are bars and restaurants, or hotels and resorts, and finally if the beach is clothing optional (tip - there is only one, and culturally topless sunbathing should be done at your discretion if at all).

RENDEZVOUS BAY

Info: Ever dreamed of discovering an unknown beach that is closed off to the world where you can just lie on the golden sands of the Caribbean, watching the sun set over the glistening Caribbean Sea with the gentle lap of waves licking your feet as you and your loved one(s) enjoy the memorable scenery with no-one to interrupt this most unforgettable experience? Rendezvous Bay can make your dreams come true. Secluded, relatively unknown, easy to find and unpopulated. Rendezvous Bay will never fail to live up to it’s name. Not advised to drive unless by high 4 X 4. Normal 4 x 4's are not necessarily suited. (Check with your car rental company before taking their vehicle, and check that the insurance will cover you if you get stuck).

Activities: Snorkelling. This is the perfect location to go snorkelling, novice or expert.

PIGEON POINT BAY

Info:
Looking for a taste of Antigua in more ways than one, Pigeon Point is your destination. Taste one of Antigua’s 365 beaches with it’s golden sands and turquoise sea with plenty of space for beach barbecues and picnics. At the same time taste the Antiguan lifestyle. This is one of the beaches where the locals and visitors tend to mix more and share the beautiful scenery of one of the Park’s most gorgeous beaches. With many opportunities for snorkelling by day and occasional beach parties by night, this is the community beach to experience.

Activities: Bar/Restaurant: Bumpkins, Snorkelling.

GALLEON BEACH (FREEMAN'S BAY)

Info:
Like to swim in the turquoise ocean? Love to relax on the warm sands of Antigua? Fancy doing a beach barbecue in the shade? Need to sip a refreshing cocktail to chill out? Fancy getting sporty and playing tennis on first class courts with the sea breeze keeping you cool? Want to snorkel and discover a new world below the water? Hungry and need some food to keep you going through the heat of the day? Want to relax with friends at a beach bar? Love to hike? Want unforgettable views of the sunset from the hilltop? Galleon Beach can provide every one of the above. With its own beach bar and restaurant, first class tennis courts, spacious beach, barbecue spots, plentiful marine life, turquoise sea and laid out hiking trails up to Shirley Heights, Galleon Beach is the all inclusive beach. Whatever your interests, whatever your wants and needs, whoever your with and with the reef only 75 yards out to sea, Galleon Beach at Freeman’s Bay delivers every time. It caters for all whether on a short visit or you want to stay the day, it is the Family Beach but without the crowds. Busier than some of its neighbours, it more than makes up for it with its facilities and extra space.

Activities:
Bar/Restaurant, Chair & Umbrella rental, Resorts/Hotels, Snorkelling

WINDWARD BEACH

Info:
Windward Beach Antigua is a one of the most hidden secret beaches on the island considering that it is only a five drive further along the road past Pigeon Beach which conversely is one of the busiest on the island, especially through the winter season. As its name suggests ‘Windward’ it is often breezy and cool and is a sun bather’s paradise. Due to its rocky shoreline however it is not the best swimming beach on the island. To spend time here you should take your own food and drink otherwise it’s a LONG walk back along the road to get refreshments.

Activities: Snorkelling
